On Wednesday, 4 January 2023, Minister of Home Affairs Dr Aaron Motsoaledi will visit the Maseru Bridge Port of Entry to monitor the implementation of the 2022/23 border law enforcement festive plan as travellers return to the country.

The Maseru Bridge is between South Africa and Lesotho. Traveler movements into South Africa have increased over the past two days as South Africans return home and migrants return to their stations.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Home Affairs, Minister Motsoaledi will be joined by the Commissioner of the Border Management Authority, Mike Masiapato.

The Minister will also pay a courtesy call to his Lesotho counterpart, the Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Lebona Lephema.

The border law enforcement festive plan was implemented in December 2022 to fast track the orderly processing of travellers and trucks through the border in this busy festive season and, where necessary, to speedily resolve challenges that may arise.

This is the first festive season in three years with limited Covid-19 restrictions.
