The 34-year-old former Springbok flanker, Jacques Potgieter, has reported for duty at the Toyota Cheetahs.
The player, known for his big-ball carriers, has been given a two-month trial period at the Cheetahs in order to prove his value.
During his recent fitness test at the Cheetahs the man who has also represented the Bulls, Sharks and Waratahs in the Super Rugby fell a bit short.
Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, told OFM Sport that the ball is in Potgieter’s court.
“Jacques joined us this morning (Monday) on a two-month trial period.
“He is in good shape physically. He just needs to get his fitness up to standard as quickly as possible.
“We will see in the training sessions over the next two weeks how he copes and improves.
“He wants the opportunity and we've given it to him.
“It's in his hands to make a success of it.”
Should Potgieter prove himself over the next couple of months, he will earn a short-term contract.
