A group of the Mangaung Concerned Community (MCC) stormed the Mangaung Metro Municipality's headquarters earlier on Monday and demanded the budget.

OFM News previously reported that the pressure group – that was responsible for the shutdown of the city in May – demanded that the council be dissolved by 1 July this year. They said then unless this happened they will take matters into their own hands by forcibly occupying the municipal and provincial buildings in Bloemfontein.

According to one of the MCC members, on their arrival this morning there was a scuffle between security personnel and a group of MCC members as they forcibly entered the Bram Fischer Building and demanded to meet with the Acting City Manager, Teboho Maine.

The OFM News team was not allowed to enter the municipal building, however, a member of the MCC informed OFM News that they told people who were inside the building to stop working and leave the building immediately.

The Mangaung Metro Municipality's spokesperson, Qondile Khedama, confirmed that the MCC met with Maine and set up a date to meet again. Khedama added that the building is now open to the public.
