Starting your day on a positive note leads to a positive day, it can be the shortest quote on your mirror, while brushing your teeth, or first thing that pops up on your phone.

According to Cleveland Clinic Health Essentials, positive affirmations are phrases you can say aloud or in your head to affirm yourself and build yourself up, especially in difficult situations.

What you say to yourself impacts your mental well-being, so why not start by saying something nice.

What affirmations assist with:

  • improved mood
  • boost your self-esteem
  • increase motivation
  • help solve problems
  • boost optimism
  • help address negative thoughts

Think of them as talking to your best friend and wanting them to feel good, it could be as simple as “You are confident” or “Today, you will do your best”.

Here is a list of positive affirmations that you could start your day with:

  • “I am awake, I am alive”
  • “I trust the journey ahead”
  • "I am enough, just as I am"
  • “I am deserving of a day filled with joy and fulfilment”
  • “I am ready to embrace any tasks that come my way”
  • “I am confident and strong”

Alternatively, you can buy a book filled with daily quotes and read one each morning. These books can be found at various bookstores.

Positive affirmations require regular practice if you want to make lasting, long-term changes to how you think and feel.

Self-affirmations are known to decrease stress, encourage better eating habits and assist with anger issues.

So why not start your day on the right side of the bed with a positive word to guide you?
