Young Tarr excited by Knights contract─── MORGAN PIEK 14:39 Tue, 04 Apr 2023
The 22-year-old wicketkeeper, Garnett Tarr, is excited to be playing his cricket for the ITEC Knights during the 2023/24 domestic season.
The destructive batter has signed a high performance contract with the team as they look to rebuild in Division 2 next season.
The player who captained St Andrews School to the National T20 title in 2018, is one of several young players contracted and they include his former school teammates, Ruan Cronjé and Pheko Moletsane.
Tarr told OFM Sport that he is excited to play for the team he grew up supporting.
“I'm super stoked to get something with the Knights,” said Tarr.
“It is only an HP contract, but nevertheless it makes me a part of the squad and a part of the franchise I grew up watching and wanting to play for.
“To finally get something and to be a part of the squad is very special for me personally.
“Even though we will be playing in Division 2, it doesn't really bother me. I'm just stoked to get an opportunity and do something well for the Knights.
“By the sounds of it, it is a very young squad. I don't know the full squad yet, I've just heard a few names here and there, but they are guys I grew up playing with, with a few school mates.
“It's very special and exciting for me. This is the most excited I've been about a squad that I've been in.”
Some of the senior players staying on at the Knights include the Proteas Jacques Snyman and Gihahn Cloete.
