Luzuko Ntlabezo (48), who served the metro for over a decade, was tragically gunned down outside the municipal offices in Rocklands by an unknown assailant while leaving work with a colleague on Thursday (17/10). 

Ntlabezo and his colleague were reportedly driving off from the municipal offices when they were followed and attacked. His colleague was unscathed but received medical attention for shock.

Ntlabezo’s memorial service will be held in the Bloemfontein City Hall at 10:00 on Wednesday (23/10). No arrests have been made and investigations continue said Free State police spokesperson Lorraine Earle.

Mangaung ANC spokesperson Ncamile Nxangisa has condemned the murder and urged law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Meanwhile, Mangaung City Manager Sello More has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Ntlabezo, describing him as “a dedicated and hardworking employee who made significant contributions to the metro, particularly in ensuring water supply to residents”.

More urged the public to avoid speculation regarding the motive behind the killing, adding the police are working diligently to solve the case. The memorial service is expected to be attended by metro officials, colleagues, family members, and community members, all paying tribute to the life and work of the late Ntlabezo.
