Free State Education saddened after teacher’s body discovered at cemetery─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 15:24 Wed, 29 Nov 2023
“Her death is a huge loss for the school and the department.”
The Free State Department of Education has strongly condemned the scourge of violence against women and children.
The body of a Bainsvlei Combined School teacher was discovered at South Park Cemetery in Bloemfontein on Saturday (25/11). Shortly thereafter, shocking pictures of the body of Khethiwe Nkambule (48) were shared on social media platforms.
Her death is a huge loss for the school and the department, said education spokesperson Howard Ndaba.

“The department refuses to accept this barbaric act which took away a teacher that still had a lot to offer to our learners who are the future of this country,” said Ndaba. “Poignantly, this harrowing incident happened four days after the launch of the 16 Days of Activism of No Violence Against Women and Children … One death is one too many,” he said.
The department has sent its heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and friends and provided psychosocial support to learners and teachers of Bainsvlei Combined School. Ndaba urged the community, organisations, and government to work together in the fight against gender-based violence.
