North West premier office summoned before Legislature committee─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:54 Tue, 24 Oct 2023
The Office of the Acting North West Premier will be under scrutiny on Tuesday (24/10) during an appearance before the Provincial Legislature Committee.
The Office of the Acting Premier, Nono Maloyi, will face tough questions today when it appears in front of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA). OFM News previously reported that the committee had planned to summon Moloyi's office to appear before it owing to a string of fraud and corruption accusations and cases across ailing departments and municipalities.
SCOPA chairperson, Job Dliso, told OFM News they have seen several investigations in the province, including forensic investigations from the Office of the Premier, and those cases take longer. "We will be calling the Office of the Premier to ask how far those matters are," he said.
This afternoon the North West Provincial Legislature’s Standing Committee on Oversight of the North West Provincial Legislature will hold a joint committee meeting with the Standing Committee on Provincial Public Accounts over provincial departments’ non-compliance and lack of implementation of the PSC resolutions.
According to the committee spokesperson, Namhla Luhabe, the Public Service Commission and Office of the Premier will present a report on departments’ non-compliance dating back to the 2019/20 financial year.
"Chairpersons of different Portfolio and Standing Committees in the Legislature, together with Maloyi and PSC Chairperson, Prof. Mandla Makhanya, will be present at the meeting," Luhabe said.
