North West hospital experiences water scarcity─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:06 Tue, 17 Oct 2023
It’s alleged that the Job Shimakana Tabane Hospital in Rustenburg has water problems and a lack of space to treat patients.
The Job Shimakana Tabane Hospital in Rustenburg is again making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
It’s alleged the hospital is hit by issues of water scarcity and a lack of space to treat patients. This has since prompted the quick reaction of MEC Madoda Sambatha who is set to conduct an oversight visit at the hospital on Tuesday (17/10).
OFM News previously reported a fire broke out at the hospital in April 2022.
In his provincial budget speech in May 2023, Sambatha announced the refurbishment at the hospital was being done in the bid stages whilst the design and business case stages started in the project of the new Tertiary Hospital in Bojanala.
During the State of the Province Address in February 2023, Premier Bushy Maape announced that 44 health clinics across the province will be renovated for R51 million through a contract development programme targeting grade 2-5 contractors from designated groups. Maape said the government will continue to prioritise collaboration with Mining Houses, Correctional Services, and Private Health Facilities, to ensure broad-based access to health care.
