The executive mayor of the Klerksdorp-based City of Matlosana, Councillor James Tsolela, has applauded the Shooting World Championships' organisers for hosting the annual shooting competition at Buffeldoring, outside Stilfontein in the North West this past weekend.

Tsolela was engaging with participants of South African Practical Shooting during the competition, where over 300 professional national and international shooters were gathered to show their skills.

Tsolela said the municipality is honoured to be part of this event, citing that it gives the municipality exposure and boosts the local economy, especially the tourism sector, such as hotels, restaurants, and retailers.

John Loupellis, Competition match director, said the match requires a competitor to complete different stages by shooting against the clock while scoring as many points as possible in the shortest time.

Loupellis told OFM News that it's always fun and overwhelming to have a great number of professional shooters competing to sharpen their skills.

"The revenue generated from this event will assist in diversifying local economies and sustain the tourism industry," said Tsolela.
