The provincial government revealed that the funeral of the late Mdi will take place at Tsoseletso Secondary School in Bloemfontein at 08:00.
Premier Mxolisi Dukwana is expected to preside as the Chief Mourner if Police Minister Bheki Cele is not able to attend the funeral. Mdi's funeral was declared an official police funeral.
His final resting place will be at Vukazenzele Cemetery in Magengenene.
Acting National Police Commissioner of the South African Police Services (SAPS), Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, paid tribute to the late Mdi for his services.
This is after describing the death of Mdi as a great loss to law enforcement agencies.
During a joint memorial service held for both Makgoe and Mdi on 9 March 2023, Dukwana said that Mdi's death was also a great loss to education, even though he was a police officer.
"By losing Mdi, education has lost immensely. Thank you, Mdi"
"Mdi was a dedicated soldier who died with his boots on. We need to respect our police officers for their dedication," he concluded.
