Female suspect retained in custody for double murders─── 14:44 Wed, 05 Oct 2022
The case against a 42-year-old suspect, accused of murders in Ireland and appeared before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, has been postponed to 12 October 2022.
The Hawks spokesperson, Christopher Singo, says the case was postponed for bail application and for further investigation. Singo says the suspect, who has been identified as Ruth Sharon Lawrence, will be remanded in custody.
He adds that at this point it is unclear whether the suspect will be prosecuted in South Africa where the suspect was arrested, or in Ireland where the incident happened. Furthermore, he says the case has been handed over to Interpol.
OFM News previously reported that a 42-year-old woman was expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 5 October 2022, following her arrest in Pellissier, Bloemfontein, on Tuesday after Interpol issued a warrant for her arrest.
