Women’s Day is approaching, which will mark the 66th Anniversary of the Great Women’s March of 1956.
The Free State Consortium, in collaboration with All Black Soiree, is hosting the Free State Fashion Week’s Women’s Day Breakfast; geared to commemorate the women who lost their lives to pave a way for today’s women to triumph and trailblaze despite adversities.
Founder and CEO of Free State Fashion Week, Candy Smith, says Women’s Day is a commemoration of the great women’s march.
“We honour the women that sacrificed their lives for us. We walk on the shoulders of giants. It is also a day of addressing issues women face today, such as gender-based violence (GBV), inequality and injustices,” she says.
She added that the day aims to celebrate the women who have overcome, trailblazed, and are leading in business, and governance, amongst other opportunities.
This year’s breakfast will take place at the Naval Hill Planetarium, in Bloemfontein, on Tuesday 9 August under the theme ‘Be Human’.
