The shooting incident reportedly happened at a grocery store on Friday evening.

South African Police Service's (SAPS) spokesperson, Peter Kareli, said on arrival the police found two bodies, and one person who sustained injuries in his leg.

"It is alleged that an unconfirmed number of armed suspects entered the shop demanding cash. The shop owner reportedly managed to grab one of the guns and shots were fired. 

"A hawker who was reportedly storing his goods at the time was shot dead, and the son of the shop owner was also shot dead on the scene."

The shop owner was reportedly rushed to hospital for the injury in the leg. Police have launched a search for the suspects, and are appealing to anyone with information to contact SAPS.

This incident follows after OFM News reported on Friday that seven people - six women and one young man - was brutally shot and killed on a farm outside Kestell in the Free State.

According to police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, it is alleged that the farm owner came across the bodies of the farm workers in their house. He added that the victims were allegedly brutally shot dead by an unknown suspect or suspects.

The motive for the killings is still unknown at this stage. Two suspects have been arrested.
