Ipid investigates Qwaqwa shooting─── 09:53 Sat, 26 Sep 2020
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Qwaqwa in the Free State.
According to Ipid spokesperson, Ndileka Cola, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 20 September.
She says preliminary investigations indicate that the person that was allegedly shot by the police officer, attacked the officer with a knife whilst the law enforcement officers were attending to a complaint of a male that took car keys and locked the car not belonging to him.
The victim was injured and hospitalised at Manapo Hospital and was later transferred to Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein for further treatment.
The investigation into this matter continues.
