Pressure mounts against #Magashule ahead of Dukwana’s testimony

Pressure mounts against #Magashule ahead of Dukwana’s testimony | News Article

The Zondo Commission is set to hear new evidence implicating the ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule, in state capture when the former Free State Economic Development MEC, Mxolisi Dukwana, testifies before the commission on Friday.

Dukwana’s testimony will come just weeks after he asked for postponement from the commission to gather evidence against the former Free State premier before his appearance. He alleged that the provincial government made it impossible for him to gather evidence in due time despite having approached the courts, hence he requested for a postponement.

Dukwana previously told OFM News that during his tenure he was offered a R2 million monthly fee in exchange for his signature on a document that would have authorised a R41.8 billion government investment deal to build a New City in the Lejweleputswa District Municipality. He said the deal was meant to benefit the controversial Gupta family, Magashule and their associates. Dukwana further stated that Magashule is the one who introduced him to the family and arranged a meeting at the Gupta family’s compound in Saxonwold back in 2011 where the offer was made.

He said the signing off on the deal was supposed to be done by the head of the department, Thuso Ramaema, whom the family wanted to be fired and replaced by the former Public Enterprises director general, Richard Seleke, and when Dukwana declined the offer by the family, Magashule fired him.

The Free State government has, on the other hand, refuted allegations that they made it impossible for Dukwana to access all the documentation required in preparation of his testimony.

Dukwana’s testimony on Friday will come just days after a new book by award-winning investigative Journalist, Pieter-Louis Myburgh, hit the shelves. The book titled Gangster State, Unravelling Ace Magashule’s Web of Capture contains allegations of Magashule’s involvement in various scandals during his tenure as the premier of the Free State.
