Owner of most expensive Madiba photo proud─── LANI LANI 16:17 Wed, 11 Dec 2013
Bloemfontein Lani Fouché - A South African born multi-millionaire and manager at Deutsche Bank in New York, Andre Crawford-Brunt, says it's an honor to be in possession of what is now believed to be the most expensive photograph of Nelson Mandela ever.
The 42-year-old businessman bought a photo of a beaming Mandela at the former stateman's 90th birthday celebrations in London in 2008.
He paid 250 000 pounds for it - which is today well over R4 million. The photo was taken by none other than Alet van Huyssteen - a Bloemfontein photographer and wife of OFM presenter Johrné van Huyssteen.
The money was donated to charity. Crawford-Brunt told OFM News that he's a proud South African, and that he decided it would be only right if this magnificent photo came to reside in his UK home.
Johrne told OFM News he's proud of his wife.
OFM News is still awaiting comment from the 21 Icons charity organisation, who claimed that another photo of Mandela, which was sold for R2 million shortly before his death, was the most expensive photo ever sold.
