South Africa's leading men's singles player, Lloyd Harris, has breezed into the semi-finals of the Gwangju Open in Korea.

Harris has little trouble flying into the semi-finals of the Challenger Tour event with a straight-sets win against Sho Shimabukuro of Japan.

Harris served 12 aces as he won the quarter-final 6-1 and 6-3 early on Friday morning.

The 27-year-old South African will face the winner between Alibek Kachmavov of Russian and Tung-Lin Wu of Taiwan in the semi-finals.

Last week Harris reached quarter-finals of the Busan Open last week, but he fell short with a lost 7-6 and 7-5 defeat to Kwon Soon-woo.

Harris has been using the hard court tournaments in Korea to prepare for the upcoming French Open at Roland Garros. He will shift his focus to the clay courts two weeks before the year’s second Grand Slam.
