Teachers' organisation - NAPTOSA - is concerned about the performance of last year's matrics in technical subjects.
The pupils were offered twelve new subjects - most of them technical, including technical mathematics and technical science - but NAPTOSA's Basil Manuel says their results weren't up to scratch. The department began piloting a three-stream model - offering high-school pupils a choice between an academic, technical vocational or technical occupational education - in 2017. And Manuel says the roll-out needs to be expedited.
