Two serious incidents reported in NC elections─── PULANE CHOANE 13:13 Thu, 09 May 2019
The IEC in the Northern Cape has reported that one party supporter has died in De Aar, while another party supporter was arrested in an unrelated incident in Kimberley after he allegedly disrupted the counting processes at a voting station.
This is according to the IEC’s provincial manager, Elkin Topkin, who told OFM News that the details on both the death and the arrest remain sketchy at this point.
OFM News contacted the police spokesperson in the province, Mohale Ramatseba, for comments on both these incidents, however, owing to connectivity issues, we were unable to communicate with him. Questions have been sent to both him as well as the provincial department of health, with regards to the matter of the death and the cause of it.
Meanwhile, Topkins said apart from these two incidents, no others were reported. He also added that he was pleased with how voting at various stations progressed yesterday.
