NC government tightened the belt further─── CATHY DLODLO 09:40 Sat, 04 Mar 2017

Kimberley - Northern Cape Finance MEC Mac Jack has tightened the belt on government spending even more in his provincial budget speech tabled in the legislature yesterday.
This follows after cost containment measures were already implemented last year.
Jack says in response to the economic crisis the province took a decision to closely review all aspects of operations and identify areas where costs could be reduced without undermining service delivery.
He says as part of the tighter measures all types of discretionary spending across the public sector will be reduced dramatically.
This, Jack says, includes budgets for advertising and publications, travel expenses and reduction in the cost of contracted professional services.
Jack says the province is also going to look into increasing revenue looking at rentals of government buildings, number plates registrations and the selling of some surplus assets.
