Kimberley - The police in Kimberley are investigating a possible kidnapping after a local businessman disappeared following a business deal that might have gone sour.

Northern Cape police spokesperson, Olebogeng Tawana, says the 35-year-old Khassim Ssemakula has been missing since January 26th.

He says Ssemakula went to deliver a vehicle to an unknown man from Cassandra in exchange for cash and another vehicle he had previously sold to the man.

Tawana says police suspect that Ssemakula, who is believed to be from Western Africa, might have been kidnapped during the exchange. “After Khassim failed to return home, his brother tried to contact him telephonically, however, his cellphones were off. Khassim and his two vehicles are nowhere to be found. Since Khassim did not return home, we suspect that he could have been kidnapped. We do not have a full description of the missing man, we only know that he should be 35 years old,” says Tawana.

Anyone with the information that could assist with the investigation are requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Patrick Dibebe on 053 8384 200 / 086000 10 111.
