No space for criminals in the police service - FS MEC─── MARK STEENBOK 15:53 Fri, 03 Feb 2017

Bloemfontein - The Free State MEC for Police, Sam Mashini, says there is no space for criminals in the South African Police Service.
This comes after the Free State Hawks arrested seven police officials from separate units in connection with alleged fraudulent transactions to the value of more than R5.2 million between April 2015 and September 2016, this week.
They were granted bail of R5 000 each on Wednesday.
The Free State provincial commissioner, Lebeoana Tsumane, says he has appointed a team of senior members who will handle an internal disciplinary process. He says the process will be concluded in two to three weeks.
Mashinini told OFM News that criminals in police uniform will be severely dealt with.
“We are not saying that people from outside must not get involved in criminal activities and then people from inside the SAPS conducts in that. It is on this basis that I am saying that we will deal with people from inside that gets involved in corrupt activities. We have to clean that area and make sure those things are not happening,” says Mashinini.
