Lanes open on N1 highway in Bloemfontein after pedestrian was killed | News Article

Bloemfontein - Lanes that have been closed on the N1 highway at the Raymond Mhlaba off-ramp in Bloemfontein outbound towards Cape Town after a pedestrian was hit by a truck this morning, are open again.

A Traffic Safety Officer for the road construction company Raubex, Johan Strydom, says motorists using the road must drive slowly and with caution.

They must not stop at the horrific scene as authorities are busy clearing it.  According to Strydom a man allegedly stood in the middle of the highway when he was hit and killed by a truck at about 04:00 this morning.

He says according to the truck driver he swerved the truck  to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but the man walked in front of the truck.
