A 36-year-old man from Welkom has drowned in the Aldam Nature Resort's swimming pool.
Free State police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng said on Sunday 22 January 2023, at about 16:00, the Winburg-based police were informed about the incident.
On their arrival, the body of the young man was already retrieved from the swimming pool. He said the deceased was certified dead on the scene by Free State Emergency Medical Services.
Thakeng added that the man was identified as Erik Rautenbach by his next of kin. He resided at Riebeeckstad in Welkom.
The police registered a case of inquest for further investigations.
