Philip Saunders Resort still open for business─── THANDI THANDI 09:30 Sun, 18 Jan 2015
Bloemfontein - The Free State government has denied reports that the Philip Saunders Resort outside Bloemfontein has been abandoned after government spent R160 million of taxpayers' money upgrading it.
Provincial MEC of Public Works and Infrastructure Sam Mashinini says the luxury resort is open for business.
The provincial department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in turn said according to their information the resort is not closed and never has been. The resort boasts accommodation, conference facilities and numerous outdoor activities.
Reports surfaced that it had been abandoned some five years after the renovations which were in preparation for the 2010 soccer World Cup.
The Department of Tourism says the resort falls under the Rantshwareng Group which manages its day-to-day running.
