Kuruman community stop road construction─── OWEN OWEN 16:14 Tue, 21 Oct 2014
Construction at one site of the now infamous Kuruman road in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District has come to a halt due to employment issues.
This is the word from the Joe Morolong Road Forum’s spokesperson, Wilberforce Melore, who says construction of the road leading to Dithakong has stopped yesterday and they plan to stop construction at a second site on the road leading to Lexie, tomorrow.
Melore says contractors have only employed a workforce from one section of the community and this is unacceptable to the forum and community.
Schooling in the district was disrupted for more than three months earlier, due to violent protests over the 130km section of road the community wanted tarred.
