Reddersburg - Ithemeleng Primary School in Reddersburg will have a library for the first time thanks to Via Afrika Publishers and Breadline Africa.
An old shipping container has been converted into a library and custom-fitted with the latest technology to benefit the school.
Via Afrika Publishers and Breadline Afrika handed the Digital Learning Centre over to Ithemeleng Primary School today.
Via Afrika’s CEO, Christina Watson, says the library is fitted with 15 Android smartphones, one computer and more than 500 books. Ithemeleng is the first of three schools in the country to benefit from this initiative.
Watson says they have appointed a librarian, who has already undergone training to be able to utilise the equipment fully. The cost of such a library, including the books and librarian’s training, amounts to R280 000.
