Snow falls in Lesotho─── 12:58 Tue, 22 Oct 2013
Snow fell on the highest mountain of Mokhotlong and the surrounding areas in northern Lesotho on Tuesday, WeatherSA said.
Cold weather conditions prevailed in the neighbouring areas because of the snow, senior forecaster Puseletso Mofokeng said.
Qwaqwa residents in the Free State could see the snow-capped mountain.
South Africa's neighbour to the north was also due for extreme weather.
"There is a possibility of heavy rain in the southern parts of Mozambique from today [Tuesday] until later on Wednesday," Mofokeng said.
There was a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms in the eastern parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, in areas such as Mbombela and Skhukhuza on Tuesday.
"Low pressure weather conditions are expected in the eastern parts of the country on Wednesday."
