Durban - A South African-born scientist has received a billion Euro grant to map the human brain.
Professor Henry Markram of the Swiss Federal Institute for Technology will be leading an international team that will seek to make a computer generated model of the brain by 2023.
Markram graduated from KwaZulu Natal's Kearsney College. He addressed learners there at the weekend.
Markram says if successful, the project will benefit the lives of people around the world living with brain diseases.
