There is a possibility that the Free State will get a new district municipality incorporating the Naledi, Setsoto and Mantsopa local municipalities.
This is according to the chairperson of the Municipal Demarcation Board, Landiwe Mahlangu.
He briefed reporters in Pretoria today about the process currently underway for the redetermination of boundaries of municipalities in the Free State, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Mahlangu says they intend on rounding up public meetings at affected municipalities by the end of April.
He is calling on all interested and affected people to participate in the process.
The dates of public meetings will be advertised via the media, as well as on the MDB website at www.demarcation.org.za.
