Kroonstad bank manager given 30 years for 25 counts of fraud─── 11:10 Tue, 11 Dec 2012
Kroonstad - A bank manager in Kroonstad has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for fraud, forgery, uttering and money laundering amounting to R2.7 million.
The 28-year-old Edgar Dexter was sentenced by the Bloemfontein Regional Court.
He targeted five companies belonging to farmers.
Dexter was the executive manager at the bank between 2009 and 2011 during which time he had access to the accounts of farmers in the Kroonstad district.
His modus operandi involved making a loan application by using the farmers' particulars where-after he would transfer the money to his wife's bank account.
Dexter was found guilty on 25 counts of fraud and sentenced to thirty years in jail.
Charges against his wife were withdrawn.
