The Suzuki Griquas edged the Pumas in Kimberley on Friday afternoon to retain their unbeaten status in the SA Cup.

The Griquas scored a late try at the Suzuki Stadium to beat the Pumas 31-26 after trailing the game 16-10 at half time.

A Ross Braude saw the Pumas take the early lead in the game, while the Peacock Blues got on the board through a George Whitehead penalty.

The Pumas flyhalf, Clinton Swart, landed three penalties in the first stanza to see them hold a 13-point lead, but a converted Thabo Ndimande try on the stroke of half time began the Griquas comeback.

In the second half the Griquas scrum was absolutely phenomenal and they build a lot of their attack off the dominance in the setpiece.

The hosts took the lead for the first time in the match through Lubabalo Dobela try, while the visitors struck back with Theuns Pretorius dotting down for a five-pointer.

A penalty try and yellow card to Tino Swanepoel swung the game in favour of the Griquas, but the Pumas managed to regain the lead with Swart landing a fourth penalty.

A late converted try by Cameron Hufke earned the Griquas the win and a bonus point.
