A dream run at Wimbledon yesterday ended in heartbreak as South Africa’s Kevin Anderson suffered a 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 defeat to Serbian Novak Djokovic in the SW19 final.

Despite the loss, the South African’s positive approach to the tournament was certainly a massive factor in his progression to the final not to mention a stunning quarter final victory over defending champion Roger Federer.

Through it all, Anderson fought hard for his place in the final playing a record 26-24 final set in the Semi-Final with John Isner to book his final spot.

The Wimbledon final was Anderson's 2nd appearance in a grand slam final following his loss to Rafael Nadal at last year's US Open.

Anderson in his turn was hoping to draw on the experience of those type of matches to help him to the win at SW19, but says it was not to be.

"Going into the match I was hoping to draw on some previous experiences, but I did not really find my form the way I wanted to."

"I was quite nervous starting out the match, didn't play the best tennis in the beginning. I would have loved to push it to another set but it was not meant to be," Anderson said after the final.

In the doubles competition, South African Raven Klaasen and his New Zealand partner, Michael Venus, suffered a similar fate when the crashed to a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 against Americans Mike Bryan and Jack Sock.
