Bloemfontein - Human Rights Day is celebrated annually on 21 March to remind South Africans about the sacrifices that accompanied the struggle for democracy in the country.


OFM News’ Moeketsi Mogotsi spoke to officials from the Department of Justice and the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) about democracy, human rights, as well as equality.

Newly appointed Chairperson of the South African Human Rights Commission, Bongani Majola, recently gave a key note address at the opening of the Free State Centre for Human Rights at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein.

Legal Administration Officer at the Department of Justice, Samantha Britz, also explains what equality courts are and what their role is in the country’s justice system.
