The new Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, has down-played his team's indifferent start to the 2022/23 Premier Soccer League season.

On the weekend the Amakhosi were trashed 4-0 by the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, in Pretoria.

It spelt a second defeat for the season in three matches for the Glamour Boys after having been beaten by Royal AM in round one.

Zwane conceded that it has been a baptism of fire for them at the start of the campaign but added that it's far from panic stations.

“We will get it right,” said the former Bafana Bafana and Chiefs player, Zwane.

“I won't panic, we got a baptism of fire, and it's part of the game. Even the best teams in the world found themselves in this situation where they were hammered heavily.

“As I said, we learn from this game and we will take the positives as well as the negatives.

“We will take those negatives and move on because we don't want to find ourselves in the same situation and be beaten 4-0 again.

“We would love to do that to other teams, and it's going to happen. I have that belief that it happens for a reason.

“It's not a train smash for sure, it's a setback, but we will definitely bounce back.”

Chiefs face the current log-leaders, Richards Bay in Durban on Saturday in their next match.
