Amajita qualify for Under-20 World Cup─── 06:22 Sat, 09 Feb 2019
South Africa Under-20 (Amajita) booked their spot in the 2019 Fifa Under-20 World Cup after making it through to the semifinals of the Caf Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, following a 1-0 win over Burundi at Stade de Maradi in Maradi‚ Niger.
Luke le Roux was the hero for Amajita as he converted a penalty in the eighth minute of the contest.
That strike would be the defining moment of the match, as the South Africans earned their place in the Under-20 World Cup for the second time in a row after appearing at the 2017 edition in South Korea.
It will also be Amajita’s fourth appearance at the Under-20 World Cup, after also playing in the 1997 and 2009 editions.
The win meant the SA outfit finished second in Group B behind Nigeria.
The four semifinalists in the competition all gain entry into the Under-20 World Cup to be held in Poland, starting in May.
