Baxter names fresh side for Zambia friendly | News Article
Stuart Baxter - Kickoff

The new Bafana Bafana coach, Stuart Baxter, will be fielding a fresh team this evening during their international friendly against Zambia.

On Saturday Bafana Bafana beat Nigeria 2-0 in a 2019 AFCON qualifier which was also the side's first game under the guidance of Baxter.

He said the friendly games will allow him to start incorporating players that have not yet been tested at national level.

Zambia in their turn lost their opening AFCON qualifier to Mozambique.

Baxter says that even though the midfielder Keegan Dolly is injured and Dean Furman needs a rest and won’t play, they don't want to leave the squad.

“We’ve looked at the concept, but it’s stranded because no one wants to leave the squad.

“We may call in an extra player because we do have a couple of injuries.

“Keegan obviously can’t play, Tau is a little doubtful because of his shoulder and I think Dean needs a rest after being in the Congo and then doing this trip as well.

“We do have a few walking wounded, but they don’t want to leave the squad, so that’s good news.

Tonight’s international friendly between Bafana Bafana at the Moruleng Stadium kicks off at 19:00.

Starting line-up - Keet, Mobara, Hlanti, Gordinho, Coetzee, Jali, Mabunda, Tau, Erasmus, Ngoma, Manyama.

Substitutes - Williams, Phiri, Langerman, Hlatshwayo, Zungu, Vilakazi, Gabuza.
