ANC backs Magashule amid British NGO claims | News Article

The ANC has come out in support of its Secretary-General Ace Magashule.

A British NGO says it’s willing to testify before the State Capture Commission of Inquiry about alleged corruption in the Free State during Magashule’s tenure as Premier.

ANC's spokesperson, Pule Mabe, says such statements are dividing the party.

"Every time when you attack or cast aspersion on the leaders of the ANC, it is the very ANC you're dividing. Once you start sending mixed signals about the leadership of the African National Congress and creating a picture that there is incoherence and that perhaps cadres of the movement are not fit to lead the charge, you can only imagine what that does to the organisation itself."

A book by investigative journalist, Pieter-Louis Myburgh, titled, Gangster State: Unravelling Ace Magashule's Web of Capture, places Magashule at the centre of alleged involvement in state capture.

Myburgh claims former Mangaung Mayor Thabo Manyoni spoke to him on record about how Magashule drove with him to his meeting with the Guptas.

Magashule has since dismissed the claims as fake news.
