Mkhwebane opposing urgent legal bid by Kieswetter─── 05:52 Tue, 12 Nov 2019
The Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, is opposing an urgent legal bid by SARS Commissioner, Edward Kieswetter.
He wants to block her from subpoenaing former President Jacob Zuma’s tax information.
The data would be part of an investigation into a complaint laid by former DA leader Mmusi Maimane.
This was based on investigative journalist Jacques Pauw’s bestseller "The President’s Keepers".
The book accuses Zuma of receiving R1 million from businessman Roy Moodley’s company, Royal Security.
The Public Protector also opposes SARS' legal bid to permanently stop her accessing taxpayer information.
