Sintu Manjezi - Gallo

The return of the in-form lock, Sintu Manjezi, is one of several changes to the Toyota Cheetahs have for Saturday nights’ highly anticipated Guinness PRO14 game against Ulster in Belfast.

The seasoned Clayton Blommetjies will start at fullback, a position he is very familiar with, while Rhyno Smith starts on the right-wing, and Craig Barry replaces Rabz Maxwane on the left.

The last time Blommetjies played in Belfast for the Cheetahs, he ran out at flyhalf for the match.

The rest of the backline remains the same as the one that played against the Southern Kings and Leinster.

Upfront, Luan de Bruin, Wilmar Arnoldi, and Boan Venter will start in the front row. It is just reward for their outstanding scrummaging display against Leinster a week prior in really wet and difficult conditions, while under a lot of pressure from the champions.

This move by Coach Hawies Fourie sees Charles Marais, Joseph Dweba and Aranos Coetzee moving to the bench.

It the second-row, Sintu Manjezi, makes a welcome return from injury, and he will partner Walt Steenkamp. Manjezi injured his shoulder during the first derby game against the Kings. While JP du Preez has not played badly, Manjezi’s physical game was missed, especially in Dublin.

Meanwhile, for the captain, Ruan Pienaar, he makes a return to the field where he played for seven years.

Speaking to OFM Sport from Dublin, he said that Ravenhill is a very special place to play rugby.

“I’ve been speaking to a lot of the guys that played in that first game over here, and it was a special occasion for them.

“They all really enjoyed the atmosphere, and I think that they are all looking forward to playing there again.

“For myself, I obviously spent seven years at Ulster, so it will be strange to run-out against them and wearing a different jersey.

“I am looking forward to it. It has been a while since I have played at the Kingspan and it is a special place to play rugby. The supporters are brilliant, so I am really looking forward to it.

“It is an important game for us to hopefully get a result. Hopefully, we perform well and perform better, and put ourselves in a position to get a result after 80 minutes.

“It is a tough place to come to, and Ulster has a very good record at home, and we will have to play really well to get a result.”

Saturday night’s game at the Kingspan Stadium kicks off at 21:35.
