The Central University of Technology Ixias plays in their first home game of the Varsity Cup on Monday afternoon when they host the University of Johannesburg.

Both teams will be targeting their first win in the competition, and the Ixias coach, Pieter Bergh, tells OFM Sport that the improvement of the team is the most important thing.

“We are very excited about the game on Monday afternoon, it’s the first home game for us, and so the guys are really looking forward to it.

“We’ve played two away matches, and we feel that we did well against both Tuks and Wits, although we weren’t able to get any losing bonus points.

“We played really well and our performances are definitely on an upward curve. We are improving every week, and to me, that is the main goal for the season.

“We are struggling a bit to get over the line, but it’s not that we aren’t creating the opportunities.

“We getting into the 22, but we just need better decision making and execution. Hopefully, when that first try comes, it will give the guys some confidence and we will see more.

“I am happy with our performances thus far, and the guys are excited for the first outing at home.”

This game at CUT Park kicks off at 16:45.

At 18:30 the Pukke tackle UWC in Potchefstroom in their first home game, and Wits entertain the Shimlas in Johannesburg.

At 19:30 Tuks face the champions, Maties, in Pretoria.
