On Friday morning the brave little boy from Welkom in the Free State met the Springboks at the captain’s run at the Toyota Stadium.

Peet, who is fighting a life-threatening illness, will lead the Springboks onto the park as they go hunting for a series win over the English.

The former OFM presenter, Yolanda Maartens, who now works at Reach for A Dream, made the youngster's dream come true.

Sadly, Peet, will most likely never be able to take to the field in the green-and-gold, and the Springbok captain, Kolisi, told OFM Sport that it was special meeting the die-hard rugby fan.

“It was pretty special, he actually gave me a teddy-bear that said “Love Peet” written on the back.

“I found out that he actually couldn’t run onto the field with me, and that was pretty touching.

“I thought about it and I want to make it special for him somehow. First and foremost we must do well in the game because that will make him proud.

“I will carry him and walk with him to the touch-line, and I am really excited for him.”

The flanker, who will be celebrating his 27th birthday on Saturday, added that this is what being a Springbok is about.

“This is what makes what we do so special. There are a lot of people like that who would love to be in our position.

“That is what the Springbok jersey means to me. That is how I felt when I got a signature from Schalk Burger when I was in grade eight.

“He made me so happy and proud to see him, and that is a kind of hope we want to bring to the people.

“We know that the main thing is to make them proud by the way we play.

“We will do our best to make sure that we make it special for him on Saturday.”

Saturday afternoon’s Test at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein kicks off at 17:05.
