Leopards look to reclaim 1st Division title─── ADRIAN BOTHA 10:30 Tue, 17 Oct 2017
After beating the Valke 23-26 in the semi-final of the Currie Cup 1st Division last week, the Potchefstroom based Leopards now shift their focus to the this weekends final showdown against the Griffons in Welkom.
Having qualified for their 3rd consecutive final of the 1st division, the Leopards will be gunning for a win on Friday to reclaim the title after last lifting the trophy in 2015 when they beat the SWD Eagles.
Leopards coach, Jonathan Mokuena says the in form Griffons are a tough team to beat in their own back yard and they (Leopards) will have to be at their best if they are to beat the Welkom based side.
"We know that the Griffons are going to be difficult to beat, they have a strong pack and good outside backs", the coach said.
Mokuena added, "we will need to be at least 40-50% better than we were in the semi-final against the Valke."
The Leopards will take to the field of the HT Pelatona Projects Stadium at 16:00 to face the defending champions, Griffons, for the conclusion of this 2017 1st division Currie Cup competition.
