On this day, the Sound of Your Life in Central South Africa will celebrate women’s contributions to our developing society, by playing the best women’s power anthems from 08:00 to 19:00. Listeners can look forward to songs like “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson, “I’ll survive” by Gloria Gaynor and “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keyes, to name a few.

Listeners will also have the opportunity to send an encouraging message or uplifting shout-outs to a special lady or women in general via the OFM WhatsApp line on 084 222 9497.

According to OFM General Manager, Nick Efstathiou, “Lift A Lady Up” Day, is so much more than just an opportunity to play a few feel-good songs.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that women are the backbone of this country, whether they are mothers raising families, grandmothers taking care of entire households, career women breaking through the glass ceiling, women sports stars representing our country with pride and the list goes on. National Women’s Day in South Africa commemorates the 1956 march of approximately 20 000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to petition against the country’s pass laws during the apartheid era.
