Miné de Klerk of Welkom has won the bronze medal in the discus for women at the World Athletics U20 Championship in Cali, Columbia.
De Klerk set a new U20 national record in the event with a throw of 53.43 metres.
Emma Sralla of Sweden took the gold with a throw of 54.48m, while Despoina Filippidou of Greece won the silver with an attempt of 54.48m for what is a season’s best.
On Tuesday, the student at the University of Oregon, De Klerk, won the shot put gold with a heave of 17.17m.
Last year in Nairobi, De Klerk won the silver medal in the same event.
