Week 4 of the Bruital Fruit Netball Premier League will be one to forget for the Free State Crinums after coming from behind to salvage a draw against the North West Flames only to lose to the Western Cape Southern Stings a day later.

The past weekend's action which took place at the University of Pretoria was the Crinums first winless round of the competition which will be a disappointment considering it was their chance to improve on their 4th place on the points table.

On Saturday, the North West Flames took the fight to the Free State side leading for much of the match but following an ankle injury to goalshooter Vanes-Mari Proudfoot the Flames’ momentum was broken and the Crinums started to reel them in.

With a little less than 60 seconds to go, the Crinums led by a solitary goal but it was the Flames who drew level just moments before the final whistle sounded to end matters at 50 goals a piece.

While Crinums coach Burta de Kock was happy with the draw against their central South African counterparts, focus quickly shifted to to the Western Cape Southern Stings who in their turn beat the Gauteng Golden Fireballs 58-36 in their opening fixture of week 4.

As for the Crinums, things just got worse as they struggled to find form against the Stings on Sunday who secured a 59-36 win over the Crinums and in so doing moved 3 points clear of the Flames and Crinums who occupy 3rd and 4th respectively on the points table.

The Gauteng Jaguars still leads the standing on 16 points following 8 out of 8 wins in the competition so far.
