#FarmList clearly sabotage, says Minister of Agriculture | News Article

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana, has appealed to all farming organisations to work closely with government and isolate organisations like AfriForum who is not adding value to the crucial land issue in the country.

Zokwana's response comes after AfriForum shared a document containing a list of properties alleged to be expropriated without compensation. AfriForum circulated the list and is in the process of engaging with all owners whose properties are on the list. In a media statement, Zokwana applauded the agricultural organisation, Agri SA, for publicly condemning AfriForum for the so-called list. Agri SA questions the status and content of the leaked list and in a statement, its president, Dan Kriek, said it is irresponsible of AfriForum to publish such unconfirmed information, knowing it to be inflammatory. Zokwana said AfriForum’s intent is stigmatising the current parliamentary process around expropriation without compensation.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Khaya Nkwanyana, told OFM News the process of amendment of section 25 of the Constitution is yet to begin, so until this process has been concluded in parliament there is no farm in this country that will be expropriated without compensation.

“AfriForum has been going around, mobilising negative sentiment against this country since this particular discourse has started. The minister is saying that this is an act of sabotage from AfriForum and it’s against the national interests of this country. The minister is calling on all farm organisations to isolate AfriForum on this question."
