Avian Influenza/Bird Flu outbreak in Zimbabwe─── 14:53 Fri, 09 Jun 2017
The suspended trade in live birds with Zimbabwe because of an Avian Influenza H5N8 or Bird flu outbreak in the neighboring country, is not negatively affecting South Africa’s trade industry.
According to Bomikazi Molapo, spokesperson from the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, imports South Africa very little from Zimbabwe.
The disease did not spread to South Africa and strict measures are taken to prevent that.
Therefor all trade in live birds and poultry, meat, table eggs and other unprocessed poultry products are suspended until the bird flu is cleared out in Zimbabwe.
In the meantime South Africa put all the necessary bio-security measures in place.
