I always hear people say: "You are as good as your last game."

Meaning, moving into the next game, your chances of winning or losing, the probabilities thereof, will be determined based on your performance and results in the last game.

Be it as it may; however, what happened in the last game, is the past and doesn't matter more than WHAT FOLLOWS after that previous game. The fact that you LOST the last game, doesn't make you a LOSER; but it's what follows next that defines you. If you give in to that past defeat, then you become a loser, however, if you decide to rise up and bounce back, then you become a conqueror.

At the start of any new adventure, be it business, relationship or being accepted at a tertiary institution to study that course one always wanted to; most people are usually excited and looking forward to that adventure. The motivation, passion and zeal to make it work out, fills you with joy and excitement to look forward to seeing it become what you intend for it to. The sad reality in life is that we don't have control over the future, thus the unexpected will happen when embarking on that new adventure... and it is at this moment that WHAT FOLLOWS next matters. When the unexpected, the unplanned for, the unimagined and unforeseen happens; what do you do? So many people are able to get motivated to start something but only a few can stay motivated to finish what they started.

When it's cold; the cold itself doesn't matter more than what follows after that cold. When it suddenly gets cold, you have two choices; to dress warmly and not let the cold get to you and make you sick, or you can simply stay dressed the way you are and get sick. Same is true about what happens when embarking on any adventure in life. It's what follows after the tough times and challenges that will determine what happens to that adventure. While in high school, I did Biology. One of my favorite terms that I learned in Grade 10 is called HOMEOSTASIS. This is the ability of the body to maintain a constant internal body temperature despite the changes in the external environment. As I was writing this piece, it hit me, that some people lacks the "homeostasis" ability in any thing they do in life. They easily let the external factors weigh down their internal motivation that pushed them to start, thus failing to maintain that motivation and see their vision become a reality. In a relationship, they easily let the rumors, arguments, and misunderstandings tear their union apart. When studying; they let that one failure in a test, assignment or exam demoralise them instead of using that failure as motivation to bounce back and pass. They fail to realise that; what follows after everything happens, is what determines the rest of the journey you're embarking on and not necessarily your initial excitement to start.

Today, being CHOOSEDAY, I challenge each and every single person reading this right now to make a CHOICE to possess  MOTIVATIOSIS; the ability to stay motivated and not give up, despite prevailing rough patches and tough times until you see your goals/vision come to fruition.

Nothing comes easy in life. If it's worth having, then it's certainly worth working for.

Happy CHOOSEDAY!
